Slacker...

Well another month and a half has gone by without my permission. I've been a major slacker, but for good reason I think.

So to play a little bit of catch up since the last post:

Halloween was uneventful. I was excited to have our own house to pass out candy. Well we ended up having like 10 trick-or-treaters. I skipped my class that night to go to the party at Grandpa Huber's house--which was really fun and yummy food.

The first round of the playoffs for football was against Jordan. Hunter came out on bottom. Every team from region 1 and 2 lost the first round. As we had predicted at the beginning of the season Bingham won the 5A state champion. Better luck next year for our boys.

Thanksgiving was good as always. We started with an early Thanksgiving at my parents' house the Sunday before because most of us were going to be elsewhere for Thanksgiving Day. It was yummy and I got to set up my mom's Precious Moments tree--my favorite thing to do! Thanksgiving Day we were spending it with the Woods at Grandpa Huber's house. There were about 50 or so people there and we ate very well!!

With the end of football season we are back to basketball season! We have been to almost every Utah Runnin' Utes game so far this year including their only road game to Boise. They are so much fun to watch! Not only is it college season, but Hunter basketball is going on as well. Thank goodness for basketball season--much warmer than football season was this year.

Road Trip to Boise State

To go into more depth about this fun quick trip that we took. At the home game before the Boise State game, we saw that they were going to be traveling there to play. We got to talking about how much fun that would be to go to that game. It would be on a Tuesday night and I normally work. I decided that I would see if someone could cover. If someone could we would go, if not we wouldn't. After asking around someone was able to. We bought the tickets and were getting ready to go. It was the day after we had a huge snow storm, but we kept checking the weather and it showed that once we got out of Salt Lake County the weather would be better. I picked Preston up from school and we headed on our way. As we were getting to the freeway we got in a little fender-bender--we were very unhappy, but there were only minor scratches on the car so we exchanged information and were on our way.

The roads were pretty bad until we hit Davis county. By the time we got to Ogden the roads were completely dry. All was going well. We were making really good timing. We left at 2 and the game didn't start until 8 so we had lots of time. We stopped for a bite to eat and to fill up on gas. Well out of nowhere a complete blizzard started. It was probably the worst I've seen and we were trying to decide to stop or keep going. We decided that it wasn't going to pass anytime soon and that we should continue on. It lasted for about 40-60 more miles, but finally got clear and we made it to Boise at about 7:30.

The game was fun! There were a lot more Utah fans there than I was thinking there would be. They ended up losing by 2 points which was a bummer. The game got over at about 10 and we were to get back on the road. We needed to get a car charger because both of our phones were almost dead. We stopped at a Walmart and didn't leave until about 11. I tried to get some sleep while Preston drove. The roads were really bad, but we were going faster than we were on the way there. We stopped at the same gas station we had on the way to fill up and get some snacks. We got back on the freeway, but got on the wrong one! We ended up in Pocatello--adding about an hour on to our travel time!! We ended up getting home at 5 Wednesday morning, but it was totally worth it!!

December is going great! Preston is now officially graduated!! We are so happy! Meranda gets home on Thursday! I can't believe that it's already been 18 months--Time flies!

We've experienced such amazing blessings the last little bit. We can't help, but be grateful for what has been given to us and for what the Lord has blessed us with.

I can't believe that next week is Christmas! This is our first Christmas in our own home and I am loving it! We got to put lights on the house which I absolutely loved doing!! Looking forward to next week!!

What's happening?

It is already the end of October?! Really where has the time gone?! Now to play a little bit of catch up:

Preston is in his last semester of school at the University of Utah--Yay!! He is going to be graduating with his Spanish teaching, but he won't have his teaching certificate. He is going a different route than teaching. We'll see how things play out for us come December.

I have switched school and am doing a program called Pathways through BYU-Idaho. It is an awesome program and is going to be perfect for me! It is completely online and I am going to be working towards a degree in Health administration. Although I am getting quite the hassle from family for going to BYU.

High school football ended up being in our regular schedule than we thought it was going to be. Thanks to the OC for Hunter calling Preston all summer long and his schedule for allowing it he has been able to help the team this year. I'm not complaining! I love that he was able to coach and that I was still a coach's wife for another season. They tied for 1st in the region with Taylorsville and will be playing their first playoff game on Friday against Jordan. Really hope we can win at least one playoff game this year!

Preston has been into Fly Fishing this year. He goes with my brother Mike and our brother-in-law Jonny frequently--pretty much every weekend-- on the weber river. I never had the desire, but a couple of weeks ago I decided I'd give it a try. Turns out I LOVE it! I caught two fish my first time and the second time I froze my fingers off and didn't catch anything--still had lots of fun though. I think from now on I'm going to be going with them as long as it's not freezing. :)

Well that's about it, Life is great! Hopefully I won't wait forever to write next time! :)

Update

So I've been terrible this summer keeping up on the blog. Every time I was about to write something, I had some place to be or something to do. That has been the story of our summer so far! To start off the house:

Since we bought the house we chopped down a huge pine tree (pictures to come). We didn't like it so we cut it down and I am so glad that we did!! You can actually see our house now! We finally got some things up on the wall-- after 2 months or so of living there. :) The yard has been a lot of work and we still haven't even tried to tackled the back yet.

This summer we were super busy! I was working a ton!! 2 jobs take up a lot of time and Preston had some classes this summer.

We ran Ragnar with Heidi and Jonny and some people in their ward. It was way fun, but it was exhausting!! We slept in a high school, yes an actual school. (Pictures to come) It was quite the experience, but I'm not sure if I will do it again. I like to run my races straight through. It was like exercising 3 times in 24 hours. It's rough on the body!

After Ragnar I got the opportunity to go to girls' camp with our new ward. We went up to Pineview Reservoir. We spent the first day at Snowbasin hiking--I didn't hike due to blisters from Ragnar. Then we continued on to the camp site to set up camp. The second day we did some arts and crafts, but the main activity was boating! It was so much fun!! Preston got to come up for that and spent the night as our Priesthood leader, which was really fun for me!

We got to go on the big trip this year with my family to Big Springs, ID. It's just a little bit past Lava Hot Springs. It is a natural Spring and it is FREEZING!! Everyone, but me did a "polar bear plunge" into the spring. I was holding Sadie who was asleep, so that was my excuse. :) We also went tubing down the river in Lava which was a blast!! Parker tagged along with us as well and it was just so much fun!!

Preston and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary this month. We kept it simple and went to Ogden and stayed in the Summit Hotel. It was super nice!! It got taken over by the same company that bought

Preston has been busy with school and started his final semester today!! So excited to have him done with that. He is going to be staying working with Biomet once he graduates. He does get the opportunity to help out with Hunter football more than he thought he would this year. He wasn't planning on helping at all, but his schedule has permitted to do so. They had the first game on Friday against Layton and won 19-12. I sadly was not able to be there to watch, but I watched film with Preston so I kind of got to see the game. :) Next week the game is at Davis.

Preston and I had signed up for the Top of Utah half marathon back in March, we then convinced Heidi and  Jonny, to run it with us. So Friday night Heidi, Jonny, and I headed up to Logan for packet pick-up and to check into our hotel. They wouldn't let me get Preston's (annoying) but he was able to get it the day of the race. It was perfect running weather, cool with a tail wind. Preston finished in 1:46, Heidi finished in 2:12, I finished in 2:19, and Jonny finished in 2:36. This was their first distance run and they did awesome!! After the race we went back to the hotel room and crashed. Heidi and Jonny went to go get the girls from Jonny's parents house while Preston and I drove around and we ended up finding a little league football game to watch for a little bit. If you didn't know this about Preston he LOVES football!!

As for me, I am no longer helping with the Hunter High cheerleaders, but I have not left the cheer world just yet. I am a coach at Elite Academy where I've been teaching tumbling. I am the coach for girls that range from 5-11 years old. They are so cute and I am having so much fun with them!!

Life is grand and we are very blessed!!

Changes Are Coming!!

The last time I wrote was at the beginning of the year. Speaking about how wonderful 2012 was and wondering what 2013 has in store for Preston and I. Before I get into the wonderful changes, I first will catch up on everything that has happened so far for us this year.

I got a small part time job that I started in January teaching tumbling at a gym in South Jordan called Elite Academy. I absolutely love it!! It is such a fun place to work. The girls that I coach with are awesome! The girls that I teach are adorable (a lot of them are under the age of 10!)!! We have faithfully been working. Preston also got a new job working for a company called Biomet-West. In a nutshell, they deliver medical supplies for surgeries to hospitals along the Wasatch Front and sometimes up into Idaho.

We are both are faithfully going through school. Preston has it tough this semester taking 18 credit hours! I on the other hand have a much easier schedule and am only taking 3 credit hours. We both are ready to be done with this semester. It's been hard because most nights we aren't home until 9 or later. We are both planning on taking Summer Semester. Preston is planning on taking 12 hours and I will be taking a Chemistry class-so not excited for that!

In March, I had the opportunity to go to California with the cheerleaders again for USA Cheer Nationals. This year Preston was unable to come, but I still had so much fun! We left in the very early morning on a Friday. When we arrived in Cali, we went to the Anaheim Convention Center to do a quick warm up. While there we learned that they had over booked the convention center and so we had to warm up outside. This made it very rough! We went from cold, cloudy weather to very sunny and hot weather-78 was hot to me. We competed Saturday and they did AMAZING!! We ended up with 6th place and a trophy. We were 1 spot away from getting to compete in Finals, but I was so proud of them! So because we didn't make finals that meant DISNEYLAND!!! I had so much fun! I love Disneyland more than most little kids. :) By the end of the trip I was ready to come home to be with Preston.

We just celebrated my birthday and it was such a great birthday!! We went to dinner Saturday night because I work Monday nights teaching tumbling. We went to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Downtown Salt Lake. It was amazing!! Probably one of the best meals I've ever had! Preston continued to spoil me and got me some cute clothes.

So now time for the big news, the biggest surprise and something that we look forward to.

We are going to be Home Owners come the end of the month!! We are so excited and can't wait to have a place to call our own! We are moving to Magna and will be right down the street from two of our uncles and aunts. The events that led up to this is happening were just perfect timing.

It started that one of our friends that owns a townhouse knew of one by them that was up for rent. Wee went and looked at it. We did some calculating and figured that we could afford it. Then we got to talking and we weren't sure if we really wanted to rent still or not. We then spoke with someone that we know that does loans and is a real estate agent. He told us that we could buy a house for the same price that we would be renting the townhouse. We started looking at homes and after looking and putting in offers. The first house we put the offer on they accepted someone else's offer. We then continued to look. The house that we found was perfect for us. It even has a "U" in the hardwood flooring! We put the offer in and the next day we were under contract!

We close on April 30 and get to move in May 4! We can hardly way, the only thing that we need to figure out what to do with some much space!!

New Year's: A New Beginning

The end of the year is always crazy, this year was no exception so I am writing my New Year's post a little late. Better late than never right?

2012 was a fun and eventful year. We had a new niece come to our family and she is so adorable and we love her!

I went to Disneyland as a coach with the Hunter High cheerleaders. It happened to fall that I would be in Disneyland on my birthday. Preston was amazing and surprised me and showed up in Cali to be with me for my birthday.

We had lots of adventures with our families. Sent off a sister on a mission, played soccer down in Cedar City, went camping, and did LOTS AND LOTS of fishing!! We ended the year the best way, spent with our family.

At the start of this new year I'm excited for the many adventures that 2013 has in store for us. I know lots of school is in the picture, fishing (mainly done by Preston), running in races, and my favorite football season!

I love the beginning of the year, it's a fresh start, gives me the motivation to make goals. I've set mine and I plan to meet them and make more through out the year.

Happy New Year everyone, hope 2013 is a great one for each of you!!!
